The Cincinnati Taijiquan Club was founded by Master I-Chih Wang, PhD, in 2004. Master Wang was born in China in 1930. He began his Taijiquan training in the early 1940’s. He came to the United States in 1958 and joined the faculty of the University of Cincinnati in 1966 as a Physics Professor. His teaching career at UC lasted 33 years. He returned to China many times where he received high level Taiji training. In 1999 he retired from UC and was named Professor Emeritus. Retirement allowed Master Wang to start teaching Yang style Taijiquan. He taught at UC Blue Ash, Blue Ash Rec Center, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, and in Ault Park. Teaching Yang style Taijiquan is how Master Wang repaid the community for all the good things he and his family have received. His teachings emphasize the health benefits of Taijiquan.

In 2015, at the age of 85, Master Wang retired from teaching Taijiquan. His last official act was to promote several of his senior students to instructor ranks.

Tim Coletta, Senior Master Instructor, has over 40 years experience teaching Kempo, Jeet Kune Do, and Taijiquan. He teaches at the Blue Ash Rec Center. His classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7am and 7:30pm. Tim can be reached at (513)237-3579, or

Ray Witte, Senior Master Instructor, started learning Taijiquan in 2002. He is also an 8th Dan Grand Master in Tae Kwon Do. For 8 years he was the Physical Fitness & Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Cincinnati Police Department. He teaches at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Monday nights at 7pm.
